Energy Systems Engineer

What we're looking for
Snofox is looking for an Energy Systems Engineer to model refrigeration processes and derive insights to improve performance. You will be joining as an early member of the Energy Systems Engineering team and will shape everything that comes next at SnoFox. Your past experience should include a track record of generating insights from thermodynamic and heat transfer models.
What you’ll do
Build digital twin models of industrial refrigeration cycles with the guidance of principal engineers
Develop automated recommendation engines to derive insights from the models and recommend improvements to customers with the guidance of principle engineers
Coordinate with our Software Engineers to facilitate the smooth flow of process data into our models and process insights out of our models
Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of colleagues to help set the direction of the product
Meet directly with customers to understand their needs and design solutions that solve their problems
Help establish and guide our team’s culture, tech stack and development practices
Qualifications
Required
4-year engineering degree or other including thermodynamics (e.g. ME/AE/Physics)
Understanding of fundamentals of refrigeration component and cycle performance including compressors, heat exchangers, COP, etc.
Deep appreciation for conservation of mass and energy and ability to apply them widely
Experience modeling performance using commercial tools like Ebsilon Pro, IPSEpro, or EES
Bonus points
Experience at an early stage startup (<5 person engineering team)
Proficiency in Python and using it for data analysis and optimization
Experience in the refrigeration industry
Salary and Benefits
Salary range: $80,000 – 100,000, dependent on experience
